Three days in Amsterdam will give you enough time to explore the city and have some time to relax too! Here is a full itinerary to keep you busy enough, without being too busy!
I love Amsterdam and had planned to do a masters there but unfortunately Brexit came in the year after I graduated so I was on a time limit and developed a chronic illness! Happy with where my life is now but it’s fun to imagine my life if I’d gone. Looks like you got so much done and had such good food!
Never went to Amsterdam but this made me think about going there on holiday 😊Sounds like you had a great trip and yes Poffertjes are a delight (especially if you add an orange liquor).
Great read! Never been to Amsterdam but I heard lots of great things about it, so it’s now on my to-visit list. Will definitely refer back to this post when booking our tours.
I went to Amsterdam for one night last month for a gig, and on the way to the airport my bag with my passport was stolen and I was stuck there for 3 extra days. Ended up seeing a lot of the city (and the Hague, when I collected my replacement passport) but would love to do the windmills in the future!!
The last two trips someone has lost their passport so this trip I was paranoid about mine. Way to make the most of such a horrible experience though xx
Loved reading about your trip! I also spent 3 days there and other than your third day I did completely different things, so now I want to go back and do the same things you did 😁
I haven't been to Bilbao yet so look forward to seeing everyone's recommendations and then reading ablut your trip
I did a pizza cruise, went to Waterstones and walked around a few other shops in the area, went to Anne Frank's house, to the Hard Rock Cafe and also went to Madame Tussauds (not as big as the one in London but still fun)
Loved reading about your trip! I've been to Amsterdam twice, once as a teen on a family holiday & in my twenties with friends, and it's a city I really enjoy & would love to visit again. Also I completely forgotten that I'd been to Zaanse Schans so was nice to see that pop up and reactivate a memory that had disappeared!!! I do remember it being very windy too!
I haven't been to Amsterdam yet but it's definitely on my list. Thank you for this post- now I know some places worth visiting there 😊 I hope you had a blast during your trip ❤️
One of the best things about Substack is if you go, you can always go back to this article cause it’s permanent and not just in my Instagram stories ❤️
Love your ‘review’ about Amsterdam! I’m from Belgium and it’s literally a two hour drive for me to get there. I should go more because you did a lot of things that I have never done! (Btw we eat bread with cheese and mustard for a meal. I didn’t know not everyone knew this combination 😅)
I went to Amsterdam on a tour once and I loved the Van Gogh museum but also was put out by the Tulip museum - being my favourite flower I was underwhelmed. Wherever the tour took us for clogs and cheese was tough, I’m afraid, as we were very frustrated by the clog maker who belittled all the women there under the guise of historical accuracy. The cheese, however, was brilliant.
I loved Amsterdam! Definitely want to go back so it’s great to now have a list of recommendations when I do 😁 the little boat cruise was probably my favourite part, so nice 😊
I didn’t have a great time visiting Amsterdam when I went traveling solo but the Van Gogh Museum made it a highlight in my travels. I’m glad you had a good time and I will use some of these notes if I ever go back 💜
We went on a college trip to Amsterdam and honestly whoever signed off on that plan was frankly irresponsible 😂 imagine 20 odd teenage girls on the streets of Amsterdam, exploring the cafes and red light district. We also stayed at what was known as the worlds worst hostel- so I’m really not sure what my college was thinking tbh
Fun to read as a Dutch person who has spent some time in Amsterdam! I went to uni there :)
Also, they're called poffertjes ;)
I knew I would spell something wrong 🙈 apologies!!! ❤️
Haha no worries, just wanted to make sure everyone knows what to ask for!

I have Dutch heritage and would love to visit. This has made me want to go even more!

Haha I guess it makes sense being a wind farm but nearly got blown into the sea more than once!

Couldn't agree more 😊

Oh wow, it’s so good! I did it last night and my boyfriend stared at me weirdly when I put mustard on the cheese board haha! Xxx
