Dear Michelle: How Do I Stop Overthinking?
Welcome back to my monthly column where I answer a question from my paid subscribers in an old school agony-aunt style letter.
Dear Michelle,
Thank you for everything you are putting out in the world, I love everything you are creating. My question is about my anxiety, it manifests as overthinking and being quite obsessive with my thoughts. This is something I know I can’t control but it does cause me distress and every time I try to work on something you’ve brought up about feeling my feelings, it’s really hard to switch that side of my brain off and not overthink about the feeling itself. I tried really hard to just feel it, whether that is through guided meditation or just silence. I’m just really struggling and I would appreciate any advice you’ve got.
